Midterm exams will be given Dec. 19-20, in the order of 6th, 5th, 7th, and 8th period on Tuesday, followed by 2nd, 1st, 3rd, and 4th period on Wednesday. All students must check into their respective classes at 8:05 a.m. on both exam days. Exempt students will be released by principal Ryan DuBose over the announcements once attendance is taken, and students taking exams will be on an early release schedule.
Exemption forms will be distributed during 2nd period on Wednesday, Dec. 13 and due back on Friday, Dec. 15. Forms require a parent’s signature and are to be returned to the student’s 2nd period teacher. Exempt students must either leave the campus during the period they are exempt or report to the cafeteria, and students taking exams are required to remain in the exam classroom for the entirety of their exam period.
To be able to exempt any exams, students must have no outstanding fines or fees and have a grade of 70 or higher in the class they choose to exempt. Students can check the fines and fees list posted in the cafeteria and check with their organizations to verify that they have no fines or fees to pay before they can receive their exemptions.
Ways that students can earn all eight of the offered exemptions include having no absences during the accounting period in a six weeks (up to three exemptions), having no tardies in a six weeks (up to three exemptions), and having no disciplinary consequences that resulted in in-school suspension (ISS) (up to two exemptions). Seniors only can earn two additional exemptions if they have earned their CCMR point prior to exams.
Students can lose all of their exemptions if they have been assigned to DAEP anytime this year or if they have five or more unexcused absences in any one class.
