Junior Tucker Floyd is involved in various activities year-round. He plays football, basketball, and tennis. He is also a member of UIL Debate, HOSA, National Honor Society, and Encounter Youth, a church group. His favorite hobbies include cooking and spending time with his friends and family.
Floyd’s goals for the future are to have his own family and become a trauma surgeon. His biggest inspiration is his mom, Caralyn Haruschak.
“She inspires me to work hard and to push through adversity,” he said. “She’s the strongest person I know.”
Many may not know that Floyd loves Jesus Christ. He lives by the quote, “Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.” (Timothy 4:12)
His biggest motivator is his twin brother, Mason.
“We’ve always competed in life, and even though he isn’t playing football anymore, I still work hard for him,” Floyd said.
Floyd’s favorite class this year is debate.
“If I need a debate leader, he steps up,” debate teacher Elise Fountain said. “His mind works great as a debater, and he encourages those around him.”
Some of his biggest accomplishments are his acceptance into NHS, honorable mention as linebacker, making Homecoming court, being named Star Student his freshman and sophomore year, and being ranked 11th in his class.
“He is hardworking, polite, and respectful,” tennis coach Rebekah Newell said. “He’s a great kid all-around.”
