After an intense fall season of winning both a district and bi-district championship, the fall tennis team had a historical season.
“We have been practicing since the beginning of July, so the kids pushed through the heat to get better and better,” tennis coach Rebekah Newell said. “Fortunately, the weather has been nice lately for some awesome tennis days.”
There were 14 members of the fall team this season, which were divided up into girls singles, boys singles, girls doubles, boys doubles, and mixed doubles. The athletes all get to play at least one line of competition. The school plays best two out of three sets.
“At practice, we do some drills that help kids work on forehands, backhands, and net play,” Newell said. “The team members also play matches against each other to work on game scenarios.”
