While some believe that living in a small town may pose issues for finding holiday activities to participate in, that statement does not prove true for Orange. Throughout the month of October, there are various events taking place to get people in the fall spirit.
One of these events, named Orangetober, is a festival taking place Oct. 6 through the 8, with free entry for the public. Starting on Friday, activities include a movie night showing Halloweentown, vendors, food trucks, and a pumpkin patch. Then, the community will be able to begin taking the pumpkins home on Sunday at 2 p.m. after the day’s events.
Another free event for the public is the Shangri La Scarecrow Festival, starting on Oct. 10 and ending the 28. Taking place at the Shangri La Botanical Gardens, visitors can see scarecrows designed by Orange residents and companies, all created using recycled products whenever possible. Also at the gardens, the Autumn Fair will be taking place on Oct. 28 to close out the festival, spanning from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with activities oriented towards the family and children.
Lastly, the Heritage House will be hosting their 5th Annual Historic Ghost Walk from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 14. With a distance just under a mile, tours will leave every 15 minutes, according to 12NewsNow. Students in local theatre departments will be involved in the tours, which cost $5 for anyone over 12 and $3 for under.
While a small town may seem like it wouldn’t have many options for community involvement, Orange residents make sure to have events catering to all ages.
