Sophomore Madison McGuire is involved in several school activities, but she considers her greatest accomplishments to stem from her involvement on the debate team. During her first year of debate, she advanced to the Regional UIL meet at SFA in LD and Persuasive Speaking. She is currently in her second year on the debate team and has also started competing in Congress tournaments.

One day, she would like to attend Baylor University and become a successful pediatric doctor. Her family members are huge motivators for her success, especially her mother. McGuire said she has always looked up to her mother because of her determination and how she has never given up on anything or anyone.

“They (family members) are always there for me, ” McGuire said.  “They are always supporting me and everything I do. It motivates me to never give up because everything I do is for my future.”

According to debate sponsor Michelle Courmier, McGuire is one of those students who is a joy to be around.

“Whether she is competing at a debate tournament, rallying the student section, or just in class, life is never dull when Maddie is around,” Courmier said. “She always has a smile, a story, and is ready for anything!”
