Bear of the Week: Nathan Childress
February 21, 2022
Freshman Nathan Childress is involved in athletics, as well as his church. He volunteers in the kids church on Sunday mornings and he also volunteers for Kingdom Zoo Ministry. He said he looks up to his PawPaw Herman for all the support he gave him and all the lessons he taught him. Childress also looks up to his Uncle Doug for spending time with him and taking him on fishing and hunting trips.
He aims to be a person adequate for others to follow. His favorite quote is, “If you feed a man a fish, he will eat for a day. If you teach a man to fish, he will eat for a lifetime.”
Childress’ goal for the future is to graduate high school, go to college, and become a game warden or hunting guide. His favorite book is “Someone Was Watching” and his favorite TV show is “Duck Dynasty.” In his free time, he likes to fish, hunt, or game with friends.
The most important things in his life are his family, faith, and fishing rods. His favorite class this year has been athletics.
“It challenges me to become better at sports as well as other things I do,” he said.
According to Algebra 1 teacher Brooke Deets, Childress has a great work ethic and displays wonderful character.
“He is always pushing himself,” Deets said. “He not only wants to be successful, but he is always willing to help others experience success. At times, Nathan comes to my advisory just to help other students with their Algebra.”
