Hailey Stack is only one of two freshmen on the varsity soccer team.

Freshmen Hallie Stack is only one of two freshmen who made the Varsity Lady Soccer team this year. The Bear Facts staff sat down with her to get an inside look at what it’s like being an underclassmen on a varsity team.

Q: How do you feel being a freshman on the Varsity soccer team?

A: “I feel honored to have made the team. I am so thankful to Coach Palmer for giving me this great opportunity.”

Q: How did you prepare for the soccer season?

“I am still learning how the game is played, so for me, preparing means listening to everything my coach tells me and trying my best to apply it all when I play.”

Q: What are your strengths?

“I honestly don’t know what my strengths are. I haven’t really been playing long enough to know what I’m ‘best’ at yet. ”

Q: What are the challenges of being a freshmen on the team?

“I don’t have as much experience or skill as the other girls, so nearly everyone has an advantage over me. It pushes me to try my hardest, though, and gives me motivation to learn faster.”

Q: Have you ever played soccer before?

“I’ve only played soccer once before…when I was five years old. I’m not really sure if that counts or not.”

Q: Is it intimidating playing with upper-classmen? Why or why not?

“It was at first, but once I got to know the team, I was much more comfortable. As for the opposing team, I really don’t think about it. I forget they are any older than me once the game starts.”
