Stephenson takes on administrative role
August 27, 2019
Wayne Stephenson has joined the campus administration staff for the 2019-2020 school year as an assistant principal. According to Stephenson, his job consists of anything and everything and he is still learning the ropes like state laws and guidelines.
Before becoming an assistant principal at the high school, Stephenson worked at LCM for 20 years as a teacher and coach.
“I didn’t expect the amount of walking we do as assistant principals,” Stephenson said. “My feet hurt really bad and I am currently shopping for new shoes.”
His favorite part of the job so far is the people he gets to work with every day.
“Being a part of such a great team of teachers, administrators, counselors, and paraprofessionals,” Stephenson said. “Those people make this a great place to work.”
Stephenson said he has goals to improve the school’s atmosphere by helping to build on what principal Ryan DuBose and his team have been doing the last couple of years.
“I think the atmosphere is really trending in the right direction,” Stephenson said. “Hopefully I can help keep that moving.”
Stephenson said the most rewarding part of his job and any job in education is watching kids succeed.
“All educators got into this business because they wanted to work with kids,” Stephenson said. “When that work turns into success for kids, it’s very rewarding.”
