Bear of the Week: Stella Hughes

Trinity Norwood

Stella Hughes is a freshman who always has a book in her hands and a smile on her face.

Stella Hughes is a freshman that enjoys reading, hanging out with her friends, and binge-watching Netflix in her free time. The most meaningful things in her life are her family and friends, as well as her memories of traveling to different places. According to Hughes, her friends and family have made her into the person she is today.

Some fun facts about Hughes are that she lived in Germany for a year and she has been to at least 15 different countries. Something people may not know about her is that she and her brother have a rare genetic disorder called Kentucky Dutch Syndrome.

Hughes said she prioritizes God and Jesus, as well as her family and friends. One day she would like to learn to play the piano, draw, paint, and become fluent in a new language. She looks up to her best friend, Emma, because she is a kind, funny, and loving person. She is also motivated by her brother and parents, who push her to do well in school.

According to Hughes, she would like to travel to Maui, Hawaii because she has been there before and it was beautiful. She would even like to live there when she is older because it is just a “chill, relaxing environment and island life sounds like a lot of fun.” She said they also have the best shaved ice in the universe, so that is a bonus.

Hughes’ favorite quote is by Rupi Kaur: “To hate is an easy, lazy thing but to love takes strength everyone has but not all are willing to practice.”
