Robin Williams was one of the most beloved actors of our time.

When I reflect back on my childhood, one movie that stands out to me is Aladdin. The man behind Genie’s voice was none other than Robin Williams, who recently passed away. Williams started as a comedian in San Francisco and rose to fame as Mork in the TV series Mork & Mindy. From there, he went on to establish a career in both stand-up comedy and feature film acting.

Williams was in countless movies and looking back, I see him as one of the funniest actors. One movie that stands out to me would be Hook. His character,Peter Banning, tries to save his children by fighting Captain Hook, a one-handed pirate. In order to do so, he has to search through vague memories of his childhood to find his former self as Peter Pan. This movie was one I remember watching with my family as a child, adding another great classic to the Robin Williams collection.

Another popular movie Williams premiered in was Mrs. Doubtfire. In this movie, he played the role of a dad and a nanny. This particular role showed how dynamic he was because he played both a man and Mrs. Doubtfire in order to be closer to his children after a divorce with his wife.

One of the funniest movies I think Williams played in was RV. This movie won a Golden Raspberry Award for a special category called “Worst Excuse for Family Entertainment”. I believe Williams’s role in this movie is what made it humorous, as he pulled off his character so well.

Although Williams always seemed happy on the movie screens, behind the curtain he battled with depression. This, unfortunately, led to his death on Aug. 14. In the end, Williams was a comedic legend and will be missed by millions.  His jokes and hilarious roles in movies will be forever in our hearts and will always be watched in the living rooms of many.
