"His happy demeanor, kindness, and positive attitude makes him a joy to be around," English teacher Katie Brown said.
Senior Joerence Gutierrez spends his time in school, working hard in all his classes, while outside of school he spends his time practicing and playing basketball.
Along with playing basketball every day, one of Gutierrez’s hobbies is playing guitar.
According to Gutierrez, his biggest role models are his parents, his mom and stepdad because they are what motivate him and push him. According to Gutierrez, he sees them working hard even when it is really hard, and they always remind him to keep trying to reach his goals and dream that he wants to achieve.
Looking forward to the future, Gutierrez’s goal is to gain more experience and skill moving forward. On top of that, one of his biggest accomplishments is that he has almost completed his senior high education.
If Gutierrez could give any advice to his younger self, he would remind himself to always be strong against any challenges that he faces and although everything will be hard do not worry, just work hard regardless of other people keep going towards future goals.
Although Gutierrez loves making new friends and joining in on activities in class, his favorite class this year is English as it has helped him grow and he has learned a lot in the class overall.
“Joerence is a respectful young man that has adjusted well in his move from the Philippines to Texas due to his friendly disposition and open-mindedness,” English IV teacher Katie Brown said. “His happy demeanor, kindness, and positive attitude makes him a joy to be around. Joerence wants to become a firefighter, a career choice that is reflective of his caring and helpful nature.”
