UIL Academics wins Sweepstakes at Nederland meet


The UIL Academic team competed at the Nederland meet this past Saturday and came home with the first place Sweepstakes trophy.

Several students brought home individual and team medals, including:

Number Sense: Aidan Watson (1st), Sean Kim (6th), 1st place team

Current Issues & Events: Jonathan Roy (1st), Spencer Layman (3rd), Michael Vu (5th), Brennan Roy (6th), 1st place team

Copy Editing: Kaila Low (6th)

Calculator: Sean Kim (3rd), 2nd place team

Feature Writing: Kaila Low (6th)

Spelling: Tiana Gonzalez (5th)

Mathematics: Aidan Watson (3rd), Landon Acord (4th), Sean Kim (5th), 1st place team

Computer Science: Grayson Brister (1st), Landon Acord (2nd), Jacob Miller (4th), Layden Webb (5th), Alex Poole (6th), 1st place team

Headline writing: Gabrielle Moore (6th)

Ready Writing: Rayna Christy (4th)

Persuasive Speaking: Sarah Howell (6th)

The teams will compete at the LCM practice meet on Friday, Feb. 12.
