The 2018 yearbooks are now on sale for a discounted price of $60 until Dec. 31. Students can pre-order their yearbooks online at Balfour.com or they can pay with cash or check in room V-203. The yearbooks will go back to the normal price of $70 after Dec. 31.

The yearbook in usually finished over the summer and will be available for pick-up in early August.

The theme of this year’s book is “Our Roots Run Deep.” According to adviser Lindsey Fruge, the staff wanted a theme that would portray this historical year. Senior yearbook editor Kayla Dominguez came up with the theme almost right after Hurricane Harvey hit Texas. She felt the roots of the tree needed to represent the state, which suffered a life-changing event and is now stronger than ever.

“The cover makes me really happy,” Dominguez said. “I feel like because it looks so good, it has made all of our staff members step up and make their pages look just as amazing.”

In this year’s book, a few pictures and stories from the storm will be included. The staff wanted to feature a few students who stepped up to aid the community, such as sophomore Parker Hanks, who rescued dozens of people during the storm.

According to Fruge, many long hours are spent creating the yearbook and her staff has already been hard at work creating their pages.

“It is pretty much a year-round task to create one yearbook,” Fruge said. “We start in August and finish up around June. It is a very tedious process. We create the pages, templates, color schemes, and then include all of the most important information from the school year. We have to take pictures of every single event that happens and document those pictures with the students’ names and other information. It is a very long process that takes much time to complete, but my staff members work hard to make sure the final product looks good. It’s always the best feeling to see your work printed for the first time.”

I bought a full page Senior ad but did not submit the photos for the page yet. How can I receive information on how/what/when to submit?
